General

The Australian citizenship test is a computer-based test that assesses your knowledge of Australia, its democratic beliefs, rights and liberties, and the responsibilities and privileges of Australian citizenship. It consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, and you need to answer at least 15 correctly to pass.
Most applicants aged 18 to 59 who are applying for Australian citizenship by conferral need to sit the test. If you're outside this age range or have a substantial impairment, you may be exempt. Check the Department of Home Affairs website for the most current requirements.
No. OzCitizen is an independent study tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs. We base our content on the official resource but are a separate product.

The Test

The test consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. You need to answer at least 15 out of 20 correctly (75%) to pass. The questions are drawn from the official resource "Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond".
The test covers three main areas from "Our Common Bond": Part 1 — Australia and its people (national symbols, geography, population); Part 2 — Democratic beliefs, rights and liberties (freedom of speech, equality, rule of law); Part 3 — Government and the law (parliamentary system, voting, legal system).
You need to answer at least 15 out of 20 questions correctly (75%). All five questions about Australian values must be answered correctly, regardless of your overall score.
